Henry's 1st Birthday!

Henry turned one today! It would have been nice to be there with him to smother him (even more), but he was well taken care of by my sister in law, Lindsay. Being a former chef, she a force to be reckoned with in the kitchen and she kindly made him a ground beef cake. He's such a lucky boy!

A Perfect Proposal

We're engaged! We spent this past weekend in NYC with friends for our friend Kaitlyn's birthday and had the best time. On Sunday morning, Ryan and I went for a walk in Central Park and there he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I was so happy, it was perfect! He asked Kaitlyn her permission so we wouldn't take away from her birthday weekend and being the nice person that she is, she said of course! Ryan let our friends in on the secret and they all wanted to be there as well. I was unaware of this at the time but they were all hiding in the park watching. After I said yes Ryan said turn around and they were all on the bridge behind us cheering. It was really nice to have them there! I also love Central Park and NYC at Christmas time so it just goes to show how well Ryan really knows me. Now time to plan!!

Mum's Birthday

On Friday, we celebrated my Mum's birthday at my sisters place with my family and our significant others. We had a really low key celebration and it was really nice. This year decided we to cook for her and bake her a cake which I think is a tradition we should have going forward. There's something to be said for everyone sitting down together as a family and enjoying a meal together. I find we're all so busy and we rarely have the opportunity to all get together and spend sometime with one another. I figured this little celebration was the least we could do considering all that she's done to make us feel special everyday of our lives. Happy Birthday Mum!! xoxo

Lauren's 29th Birthday

This year for her birthday, my sister decided to bring out her inner child and celebrate at Skyzone, the indoor trampoline park. I've wanted to try it out for a while now and haven't made it there yet. It was so much fun!

Weekend Things…Birthday Festivities Continued

My friends really spoiled me this year. The festivities continued at Jaclyn's cottage even though the weather was terrible...what's with the weather this summer? A few of us met at Weber's for some dinner on Friday after work and I was surprised with my favourite - a cheesecake! I'm so glad Ryan finally got to go - we haven't been able to coordinate a weekend in the past. Thanks again Sopik's - I hope I haven't overstayed my welcome.

A cottage must!

Turning 27...

My birthday was so great! Thanks to everyone who reached out to me in one form or another - I don't know what I'd do without all the special people that I have in my life.

I had a half day at work, which was really nice! I won't have any time off again until Christmas so I really made the most of it. I met my Mum and Ryan for lunch at one of my favourite spots to lunch - Bymark. Their patio is the best and their food is to die for. Unfortunately it felt like an October day so we ended up dining inside. It's a real treat to go there once in a while.

Nicole was sweet and came and met me for a pedicure after her morning class (Ryan happily got excused from that). After that Ryan and I just hung out at our apartment and my Dad came over for a nice visit. Ryan will be starting a pretty demanding job in September so I really enjoyed spending the afternoon with him doing nothing.

We went to one of my other favourite restaurants for dinner, Campagnolo. I think this might be the best Italian food in the city. With Toronto being as cosmopolitan as it is and us having the most authentic cuisine from almost anywhere in the world, that says a lot. I hope to be back soon Campagnolo!

After dins few close friends came over and Dilly rolled out the red carpet for me - much appreciated DP!!

Thanks again to all my lovely friends and family!

Mimi's 84th Birthday

Happy 84th Birthday to one of the most special people in my life. You've taught me so much and your unconditional love has always been felt. I hope that if I have grandchildren one day, I'll mean as much to them as you mean to me.  We love you Mimi!!
I think this picture was taken on her birthday at the cottage in 1993.

Happy Belated 60th Dad!

I was feeling badly being away for my Dad's momentous birthday because my parents have always made my siblings and I feel very special on ours.  It was important to me for us to all get together and celebrate once I got home.  You would never know he is 60.  He's in better shape and more active than most 20 somethings that I know.  We went to Cluny Bistro in The Distillery.  Worth checking out!

Call to the Bar

Today was a memorable day for Ryan, he got Called to the Bar of Ontario!  After a lot of hard work and sleepless nights, he's officially a lawyer!  Ryan, I'm so proud of you for all that you've achieved and accomplished in your 29 years and I know that you'll only have continued success in all that you do.  I'm so glad that I got to be apart of your special day.  Congratulations!  xoxo
